The Half-light

37″ x 49″, Oil on Board, 2010.

Like I have mentioned in earlier posts, I enjoy playing with color. One thing I find particularly interesting is how colors change when placed next to each other. In this piece, although the colors appear to be rather dull, they are actually comprised of a rather rich yellow band crossing the center which is flanked by purple bands on the top and bottom that neutralize each other a bit. This is where the title comes from ,because the intensity of the piece appears to be only half of what it actually is. Oh how much we cannot see.
