Between the Trees

11″ x 42″, Oil on Board, 2010.

This painting has more to do with the color than the title. Many times I enjoy playing with color, trying to figure out how it behaves and performs. This painting was interesting because at first glance it appears to be completely green, but upon closer examination there can be found dozens of red areas within the composition. An additionally interesting point is that the green appears more green with them present than in their absence, perhaps we need opposition to be who we really are, I don’t know for certain that is for sure.
