True Variations, Layer 8 of 10

True Variations, Layer 8 of 10

48″ x 72″ (4 @24″ x 36″), Oil and Graphite on Canvas, 2009

This is one eighth of a large work titled True Variations that will be on display at the Logsdon 1909 Gallery. Over 35,000 rectangles were painted in an attempt to show that true variations only occur through the repetition of the same thing. To quote Emerson, “The natural motions of the soul are so much better than the voluntary ones that you will never do yourself justice in dispute.” We can only steer, we can’t control the force, so why try.

$2000.00/set or $600.00/each
